New Outpatients at Parkside Hospital

Parkside Hospital, owned and operated by Aspen Healthcare, is delighted to announce the opening of a new purpose built Outpatient Department. The facility, which accommodates three floors, encompasses 21 spacious consulting room suites and boasts cutting edge design and functionality for the new Outpatients, Pathology, Pharmacy and Radiology Departments. Patients can now receive their outpatient care all under one roof in a relaxed and welcoming setting at Wimbledon’s only private hospital. In order to allow patients easy access to the Parkside Campus, the car park has also been redesigned and extended as part of this development.

Building work for the Outpatient Department began in spring 2009 on the site of a former property situated at the rear of the current hospital site. The building project, including the subsequent reconfiguration of the existing Hospital building to create additional bedrooms, has been designed by Peter Town Consulting. The project has been managed and cost controlled by Bernard Williams Associates with a client’s design team that included service engineers, C & W Partners Ltd., structural engineers, Richter Associates, and landscape architects, Anthony Stiff Associates. The construction work was carried out, under a design and build contract, by Kilby & Gayford Ltd.

The new facility, which is part of an £11.5m investment, is the latest development in Parkside’s expansion programme that has recently included a major theatre upgrade, the opening of a state of the art endoscopy suite and a new extension for the 11 bedded day surgery unit.

Hilda Bradbury, Hospital Director said “I am delighted that this expansion has provided us with such spacious and well designed facilities. As well as greatly improving our outpatient services this will also allow us to add additional inpatient bedrooms in the main hospital and extend our High Dependency Unit in order to manage the growing demand”.

Parkside Hospital has been established for over 25 years and employs over 300 staff, many of whom live locally. Consultants from St George’s Hospital and Kingston Hospital, as well as some inner London hospitals, continue to treat their private patients here.
