Post-Covid Service
Parkside Hospital has launched a new Post-Covid Service to support people who are experiencing long term effects of the disease.
This new Post-Covid service is specifically designed for patients have had Covid-19 and who still have symptoms or have detected a change in their body, typically over a month after having the disease. These ongoing symptoms can include fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, memory problems, nausea and joint pain.
Led by our expert Private GP team, with support from other healthcare specialists in the hospital, the Post-Covid service will provide a holistic health assessment to better understand the long-term impact Covid-19 has had on your body and mind and specific advice to help you return to full health .
Consisting of an extended Private GP appointment, a range of diagnostic scans and onward referrals if necessary, the one-stop Post-Covid service is tailored to support you at every stage of your recovery from Covid-19.
What happens at the post-Covid service?
Our private post-Covid assessments includes the following:
- A comprehensive pre-consultation review of how Covid has impacted you
- Extended GP appointment with one of our specialist Private GPs
- Review of your medical history
- Lifestyle and mental health review
- Physical examination
- Blood pressure and oxygen saturation check
- ECG
- A comprehensive panel of blood tests
- Further scans eg chest x-ray as necessary
- Follow-up GP appointment.
Following your assessments, our expert GPs will provide you with a detailed report outlining the results from your tests and their recommendations.
If you need further investigation or specialist care they will provide you with onward referral to our Physiotherapy team or Consultants specialising in specific areas such as respiratory medicine, psychiatry, rheumatology, etc. as appropriate
All scans and investigations take place at Parkside within our state-of-the-art facilities, meaning patients do not need to travel elsewhere.
Please note: our Post-Covid service is not suitable for patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 within the last four weeks. If you have tested positive, you must follow the latest government guidelines and self-isolate.
Are virtual appointments offered for this service?
As scans and investigations need to be undertaken in order to learn more about the impact of Covid-19 on your health, the first appointment needs to be in person. Follow-up appointments will be conducted virtually.
Funding your treatment
This package is available at a cost of £650 (T&Cs apply).
